Greene County Education Association Leaders are seeking your input and advice on our goals and objectives for 2010-2011. Salary and benefits is always a high priority, but we also know that there are other pressing issues in your buildings that can and should be addressed. Please help us by giving us your opinion on issues that we should tackle together to make our schools the best places for our children to learn and for our members to work. Together we can accomplish great things! If you have any ideas, please contact your building representatives, or our UniServ Director, Dave Oberg, at vea.oberg@gmail.com

Crowds of Educational Leaders Rally in Richmond for Public Education
On February 27, 2010, leaders from Greene County Education Association, joined education leaders from around the Commonwealth, representing the VEA, the PTA, the State Superintendent’s Association, and the State School Board, to Rally in Richmond for greater funding for K-12 education. This grass-roots movement was created by the Blue Ridge UniServ, and gathered more than 700 people at the Capitol Square. VEA’s President Kitty Boitnott has stated that the Rally in Richmond turned the tide in the funding debate, and convinced Governor McDonnell and the General Assembly to find more resources for our students. Congratulations to all of our members for protecting our students’ education, and for preventing the loss of thousands of education jobs! Together we can accomplish great things!
